Thank you for registering to attend the 10th African Women in Media Conference (AWiM26).
As delegates will be travelling from across Africa and around the world, this guide has been prepared to help you understand Namibia's immigration and visa requirements and to make your travel planning as smooth as possible.
Whether you are travelling as a speaker, delegate, exhibitor, sponsor, media representative or partner, it is your responsibility to ensure that you meet Namibia's entry requirements before travelling.
Visa requirements vary depending on your nationality and passport type.

Understanding Namibia's Visa Categories
Namibia currently operates several immigration pathways for short-term visitors. For AWiM26 delegates, the most relevant are:
Visa Exempt: Delegates from countries with visa exemption agreements
Visa on Arrival: Eligible nationalities arriving at approved ports of entry
Online e-Visa: Eligible travellers who prefer to obtain approval before departure
MICE Visa: Delegates attending conferences, exhibitions and other business events
Holiday Visa: Tourism and leisure travel
Visa Before Travel: Nationalities that must obtain a visa before departure
Who Needs a Visa?
Category A – Visa Exempt
Citizens of countries with bilateral visa exemption agreements may enter Namibia without obtaining a visa for eligible short visits. These travellers should still carry:
• A passport valid for at least six months beyond the intended stay
• A return or onward ticket
• Evidence of accommodation
• Proof of sufficient funds if requested
• Any health documentation required under Namibian regulations
Category B – Eligible for Visa on Arrival / Online e-Visa
Many nationalities may either apply online before travelling, or obtain a Visa on Arrival at designated ports of entry. AWiM recommends applying online before travel to reduce uncertainty and support smoother arrival processing.
Category C – Visa Required Before Travel
Travellers whose nationality is not eligible for visa exemption or Visa on Arrival/e-Visa must obtain the appropriate visa before travelling through a Namibian Embassy or High Commission.
MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events) Visa
Delegates travelling specifically to attend AWiM26 may be eligible to apply for a MICE Visa. The MICE category is intended for participants attending conferences, conventions, exhibitions, seminars and similar events.
Typical supporting documents:
• Completed visa application & Event code
• Valid passport & Recent passport photograph
• Conference invitation letter & AWiM26 registration confirmation
• Hotel booking or accommodation details
• Return or onward travel ticket
• Proof of sufficient financial means
Applicants should prepare their visa fee of 73-100 USD in advance ($73 online, $97 on arrival).
General Entry Requirements
Regardless of your visa category, all delegates should be prepared to present:
• Passport valid for at least six months
• Sufficient blank passport pages
• Return or onward ticket
• Accommodation confirmation
• AWiM26 invitation letter & registration confirmation
• Evidence of sufficient financial means
• Travel itinerary
• Yellow Fever vaccination certificate (if applicable)
Country Visa Guide (Selected African Countries)
This table summarises entry requirements for many countries from which AWiM26 delegates are expected to travel. Please confirm the latest requirements with MHAISS before making travel arrangements.
Visa Exempt Countries: Angola, Botswana, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Seychelles, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe
Visa on Arrival/e-Visa Available: Nigeria, Ghana, Egypt, Ethiopia, Morocco, Rwanda, Senegal, Uganda (apply online before travel recommended)
Note: Many European, American, and Asian countries are also eligible for Visa on Arrival/e-Visa. Please verify your specific country's status.
Health & Vaccination Requirements
A Yellow Fever vaccination certificate may be required if you are travelling from or transiting through a country with a risk of Yellow Fever transmission. Delegates should carry their International Certificate of Vaccination if applicable.
Holiday Visa
Delegates who intend to combine conference attendance with tourism before or after AWiM26 may instead require a Holiday Visa, depending on their nationality and travel plans.
Typical supporting documents include:
• Completed application
• Passport
• Accommodation confirmation
• Return ticket
• Proof of financial means
• Travel itinerary
• Additional documents where requested

Visa Before Travel
If you are not eligible for either visa exemption or Visa on Arrival/e-Visa, you must obtain a visa before departing for Namibia.
Applicants should contact the nearest Namibian Embassy or High Commission for application procedures, processing times and any country-specific requirements.

Visa Application Tips
To ensure a smooth visa application process, follow these recommendations:
Apply Early
Submit your visa application at least 4-6 weeks before your travel date to allow for processing time and any potential delays.
Complete Documentation
Ensure all required documents are complete, accurate, and up-to-date. Missing or incorrect information can delay your application.
Keep Copies
Make copies of all submitted documents and keep them with you during travel. Store digital copies in cloud storage for backup.
