Ilana Gasa is a young African digital rights storyteller and researcher using creative media, and youth-centered digital resilience work to explore how technology shapes identity, wellbeing, safety, and freedom of expression across African communities.

Her work includes Journathon, a hackathon-style media innovation initiative using newsroom simulations, storytelling labs, and collaborative challenges to explore misinformation, AI influence, online harms, and the future of journalism in Africa. An ITU-certified professional and 2025 Alumni of the Internet Society Early Career Fellowship, Ilana draws from her background in social work to contribute to inclusive internet governance through grounded African perspectives and community-centered approaches rooted in empathy, listening, and collective care.
