Everlyn Chelang’at Kimibei is a PhD candidate at Kisii University. As a media scholar and practitioner, her study is focused on data journalism and its potential on addressing both misinformation and disinformation to Kenyan youth. Everlyn has a Master of Journalism and Mass Communication and a Bachelor of Arts in Media and Communication, both from Kisii University. Everlyn has published research on the role of social media as a deliberative crisis communication channel in the university setting. In Kisii University, she is a Senior Studio and Media Lab Technologist. In addition, she has part-time tutoring and media consultancy roles. Also, she has established a training media studio and media lab and has steered students on media competition at the national level. Everlyn’s work corresponds to media education, youth engagement, misinformation, and digital public trust.
