Carolyn Ashaba

Carolyn Ashaba is a journalist, media entrepreneur, and gender justice advocate with
over five years of professional experience in Uganda’s media and communications
sector. She has built a strong career in broadcast journalism through her work with
Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) Television, where she has contributed to
impactful storytelling that amplifies community voices and shines a spotlight on issues
affecting women, youth, and marginalized groups.
In 2023, Carolyn broadened her international media exposure through a professional
Internship training program at Deutsche Welle (DW) Television in Bonn, Germany. This
experience enhanced her skills in multimedia journalism, global media practices, and
cross-cultural communication, further strengthening her commitment to ethical and
impactful storytelling.
Carolyn is the Chief Executive Officer of One Africa Media, a growing online news
A platform dedicated to informing and engaging audiences on issues that matter across
Africa. She is also the Founder of Inspire Women Uganda, an initiative focused on
empowering women and girls through entrepreneurship, digital literacy, and leadership
development, mentorship, and advocacy.
A passion for gender equality, social justice, and human rights drives her work.
Through media and community engagement, she advocates for increased access to
opportunities, justice, and safe, inclusive spaces where women and girls can thrive and
realize their full potential.
Carolyn holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication from Uganda Christian
University, Mukono, and has earned several professional certifications in media,
communications, digital skills, and leadership. She believes in the transformative power
of storytelling and listening, recognizing that every story carries a lesson, a truth, and an
opportunity to inspire positive change.
An avid learner and connector, Carolyn enjoys reading, writing, traveling, and building
meaningful relationships across cultures and communities.
